Fishing Reports

Atlantic Highlands fluke June 14

The weather this week made us miss a few trips. On the days we were able to get out we fished mostly in Sandy Hook and Raritan bays. As usual the ratio is mostly shorts but we did catch a few nicer fish. We had a few fish in the 6 to 6 1/2 lb range. The afternoon trip today was the best of the week. You can see some of them in gallery. Just a reminder the is still no bait shop in the harbor so if you want anything other than rigs and sinkers stop at a shop on the way to boat. Looking forward to seeing you on board.

The rain kept the people away today so we did not fish. The rest of the week we fished making both trips everyday. We have been doing most of the fishing in Sandy Hook and Raritan bays. As usual it is hard to say which trip will be better. It all depends on the conditions. We did see a few days were the drift was slow the guys working the spro's did a bit better. When the drift picked up bait worked just as good. The short action has picked up keeping everyone busy waiting for a keeper. Looking forward to see everyone.

The fluke fishing the last few days has been slow to ok. There is still no way to tell which trip is better morning or afternoon. While most of the fishing has been in Sandy Hook bay sometimes we will fish on the ocean side of Sandy Hook.We did see a few nicer size fish today. Check out the new pictures in the gallery. We have rigs and sinkers on board but there is still no bait shop in the marina. On some days the gulp and killie combo works better so if you want them you have to stop at a bait shop on the way to the boat. We have been out everyday so come down, looking forward to seeing you.

It was a pretty tough holiday weekend. We did not fish on Friday (24th) or Saturday (25) due to nasty weather. Finally got to fish on Sunday (26th) but it very windy, hard northwest 25 plus. We fished in the ocean where it was calmer along the beach. We had some keepers and fair short action on the morning trip. The afternoon trip was terrible very windy and lousy fishing. The few fish that were caught were very cold. Today the morning trip saw an improvement with some keepers and shorts. The afternoon trip was much better with more short action and one of our better trips for keepers. Every trip is different. We are sailing everyday so come down. Just a reminder that there is no tackle shop in the marina so if you want gulp and or killies stop at tackle shop along the way. On some trips the gulp and killy combo is working pretty good. looking forward to seeing you .

We have been fishing everyday making both trips (8am to 12:30 and 1:30 to 6 pm). We are continuing to fish the usual areas in Sandy Hook bay. Both trips on Monday May20 were ok with a mix of shorts and keepers. The morning trip today was slow with shorts and keepers. The afternoon trip was quite different with good action. While most of the fish were short it was the best trip for keepers yet. Hopefully the fishing will continue to improve and as usual it is hard to say which trip will be better. Looking forward to seeing you. Capt Tom
