Fishing Reports

Atlantic Highlands fluke fishing July 6

WE both morning and afternoon trips today from the Atlantic Highlands Marina. The fishing this morning was not good.We fished the usual places in Sandy Hook bay with not too much success. Every place we went we seen a few shorts and not many keepers. On the afternoon trip it was quite different. The short action was much better and we caught a few keepers each drift. We ended up with one of our better trips with keepers. While some people only caught shorts some had some nice size keepers. Tire John  was able to catch the only limit of the afternoon. There are some new pictures in the gallery so take a look. The weather man is calling for a hot next few days but if we get the breeze it should be nice on the water. There are some new pictures in the gallery so take a look. We are sailing everyday making two trips (8ma to 12:30 and 1:30 to 6pm). So come and make a trip, we are looking forward to seeing everyone.

Atlantic Highlands fluke fishing July 2

We have been sailing everyday from the Atlantic Highlands marina making both morning and afternoon trips. The fishing the past few days has been the same. We still have found the best fishing in Sandy Hook and the Flynns Knoll areas. On the afternoon trips the wind has been picking up out the Southeast so the bay has been nice and calm. The morning trip today was about the same as it has been but the afternoon trip was much better. The weatherman scared a lot of people but those who showed up had a nice afternoon. The south wind made for a good drift in the bay. The action was some of the best we've had. Most of the fish were shorts but we ended up with one of our better catches of keepers Everyone caught fish even though there were no limits some people had from one to three keepers. There are some new pictures in the gallery so take a look. We are sailing everyday making two trips (8am to 12:30 and 1:30 to 6 pm). Looking forward to seeing everyone.

The fishing has not changed much since the last report. We are making both morning and afternoon trips everyday from the Atlantic Highlands marina. We have found the best of the fishing on Flynns Knoll, Sandy Hook and Raritan bays. There is no way to tell If the morning or afternoon trip will be better. Most of the time it depends on the drifting conditions. The shorts still outnumber the keepers but there are some real nice size fish being caught. I put some new pictures in the gallery so take a look. We are sailing everyday making two trips (8am to 12:30 and 1:30 to 6pm). The kids are out of school so take them fishing. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Atlantic Highlands fluke fishing June 26

Well things have not changed much the past few days, We have been making both morning and afternoon trips from the Atlantic Highlands marina. Some days the morning trip produces more fish and sometimes the afternoon trip is better. We have not found much in the ocean so we have been fishing in Sandy Hook and Raritan bays. On the days when the wind picks up out of the southeast the conditions in the bay make for better fishing. It is calmer and it is easier to hold the bottom. As usual the shorts outnumber the keepers but there are some nice size fish being caught. I have some new pictures in the gallery so take a look. We are sailing everyday making two trips ( 8am to 12:30 and 1:30 to 6 pm). Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Atlantic Highlands fluke fishing June 23

We made both morning and afternoon trips today from the Atlantic Highlands marina. We are fishing the same areas in the Sandy Hook and Raritan bays depending on the conditions. The morning started out with a pick of shorts and a few keepers. We tried a few other spots but the conditions were no better. It turned out to be a poor morning. The afternoon trip turned out to be much better. The drifting conditions were nice and we picked the fish all afternoon. We ended up with one of our better catches. The number of big fish was the best we have seen on one trip so far this year. The pool fish was a 8lber caught by George Bakos from Red Bank N.J. There were other fish in the 4 to 5lb range. There were no limits but some guys had 1 or 2 keepers and some had none. There are some new pictures of todays fish in the gallery so take a look. The fishing has had it's ups and downs but come on down and maybe you can be here for a good one and catch some of these nice size fluke. We are sailing everyday making two trips (8am to 12:30 and  1:30 to 6pm). Looking forward to seeing everyday.
