Fishing Reports

Atlantic Highlands blackfishing November 21

I would call today's fishing OK. Only made two drops in different areas. Started out in the first area with a fair pick with everyone catching fish but most were shorts. The fishing slowed so we tried a different area. The next area was pretty much the same. The action was pretty steady with mostly shorts with some keepers mixed in. We stuck it out and at the end of the day most people went home with dinner. We had no porgies and only a few seabass. This was a big improvement over last weekend so hopefully it will continue to improve. Tomorrow's weather looks good so come down. We are sailing everyday 7:30 am returning between 2:30 and 3:00pm weather permitting. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

The blackfishing was no better today. Fished the same area as yesterday first. Picked some shorts but only a couple of keepers. Went a little further offshore but no success. Went further off and tried a few drops. The blackfish did not want to bite so a few guys tried some clams bait. We started to pick at the seabass and some nice size porgies. Hopefully things will change and the blackfish bite will get back to the way it was before the limit was raised. We will be trying everyday weather permitting. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

The first day of the 6 fish limit was terrible. The weather was great but not the fishing. Started out the morning with some shorts and a few keepers each drop. Left the area and went to the Sandy Hook reef but it was worse. Made the last drop of the day east of the reef but only caught a few more. Tomorrow is another day, weather looks good, so we will try again. We are sailing everyday 7:30 am returning between 2:30 and 3 pm (weather permitting). Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Tomorrow the blackfish limit goes to 6 fish at 15 inches. We will be targeting blackfish but if anyone wants to fish for any porgies and seabass they can do so. We will be supplying green crabs and have white leggers for a fee. We will also supply clams for those who want to fish for porgies and seabass. The sailing time is the same (3/4 day leaving at 7:30 am and returning between 2:30 and 3:00 pm.) . We will be sailing everyday weather permitting. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Sailed with a small group today. There was a bit of a swell from yesterdays wind but a nice day. It was a nice mix of porgies, seabass and blackfish. The porgies were nice size and the seabass were mostly small but some keepers mixed in. The blackfishing was good in the beginning for those who wanted to fish for them. Everyone went home with fish for dinner today. The weather for tomorrow looks good. There are some new pictures in the gallery so take a look. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
