Fishing Reports

Atlantic Highlands blackfishing December 1

Made our 7:30 am blackfishing trip again today from the Atlantic Highlands marina. It was not real calm today but nicer than yesterday. There was less wind and warmer. The fishing was not as good as yesterday but better then Saturday. We made a few moves and had a pick on each spot. I think everyone caught fish but not everyone had keepers. High hook for the day was four keeper blackfish and some had from one to three and some had none. As of now the weather for tomorrow does not look good (N E wind gust to 25) but so far Wednesday and Thursday doesn't look too bad. We'll have to wait and see. We are sailing everyday (weather permitting) leaving at 7:30 am and returning between 2:30 and 3 pm. There some new pictures in the gallery. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Atlantic Highlands blackfishing November 30

We have been making our 7:30 am black fishing trips from the Atlantic Highlands marina the past few days. Yesterday we started out fishing the same area where we had decent fishing on Friday. We picked a few fish but it was not good. Tried a different area and the same only a few. Today it was windy and a bit rough but once we anchored up it was very fishable. The fishing was much better than yesterday. WE were able to make only one drop with some adjustments. There were three limits and everyone else had from one to five keeper black fish along with the short action. Tomorrow the weather looks good but the rest of the week we will have to take day by day. We are sailing everyday (weather permitting) leaving at 7:30 am and returning between 2:30 and 3pm. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Atlantic Highlands blackfishing November 28

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. We were back fishing today on our 7:30 am trip from the Atlantic Highlands marina. The wind blew more then we expected but it was very fishable. We only made one drop and then shifted around on the two anchors and put a decent catch together. The action was good enough with a mix of keepers and shorts. we ended up with three people with limits. Everyone caught fish but only a couple of people and no keepers the rest had from one to five. Dave had the big fish if the day with a nice 8 lber. You can see his pictures with some others from today in the gallery. WE are sailing everyday at 7:30 am and returning between 2:30 and 3pm. Come on down and have some fun catching some of these nice size black fish. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Atlantic Highlands blackfishing November 25

We did not fish yesterday due to the weather but we made our 7:30 am trip from the Atlantic Highlands marina today. As expected there was a large ground swell from yesterday's wind. The black fishing was not as good as the last two trips. We had to make more stops and found some better than others. Everybody caught fish and only a couple had no keepers. Kevin had his best day black fishing so far this year with his limit and the biggest black fish of the day. You can see his picture in the gallery. We will not be sailing tomorrow due to the bad weather. As of now the forecast for Thanksgiving day ok so we will be sailing. Hopefully they are right. We leave at 7:30 and return at 2:30 .I would like to wish everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving and hope to see you soon.

Atlantic Highlands blackfishing November 23

Made or 7:30 am black fishing trip from the Atlantic Highlands marina today. It was warmer and less wind then yesterday. The fishing started out like yesterday with a pick of shorts and some nice size blackfish. The bite slowed down and we made a few other drops. The other drops only produced a few keepers with some shorts. At the end of the day the catch was about the same as yesterday. We did have two limits  while some others only had two or three and a few people only had shorts. The pool fish was just over 8lbs and there were a few in the 5 to 6lb range. There are some new pictures in the gallery so take a look. The weather for tomorrow looks like a blow out with winds up to 40 knots with rain so we will not be fishing. Hopefully things will settle down for Tuesday but we will have to wait and see. If not we have to see what Wednesday brings. We plan on fishing on Thanksgiving day (weather permitting). Sailing 7:30 am returning 2:30 pm. I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday.
