Fishing Reports

Atlantic Highlands fluke fishing September 2

We have made both morning and afternoon trips from the Atlantic Highlands marina everyday. Yesterday ( Monday September 1) we saw plenty of action. As usual the shorts outnumbered the keepers but we were able to have a good amount of keepers on both trips. The big fish of the day was a 8.1 lb beauty caught by Andrew Wronski from Linden on the afternoon trip. Today the morning was better than the afternoon. Both trips had good action but the morning had more keepers. Overall the past few days have been some of the better days of the season. Hopefully the fishing will to continue.  Sometimes the drift can be pretty fast so you might need some heavy weights. There are some new pictures in the gallery so take a look. We are sailing everyday making two trips (8am to 12:30 and 1:30 to 6pm). Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Atlantic Highlands fluke fishing August 31

WE have been sailing everyday making both trips from the Atlantic Highlands marina. The past two days we have been fishing in some stronger currents. Sometimes in the channel or some times out of the channels. There has been plenty of action and we have seen more keepers. Both trips have been about the same depending on the drifting conditions. Some people have been using the spro's  while some are catching on bait. The gulp and spearing or killie  has been the best bait combo if you don't want to work the spro. We had no limits today but Terry and tire John were able to catch keepers apiece on the afternoon trip . Not everyone is catching keepers but some others were able to catch from one to three keepers. It's a good idea to bring a light and heavy rod to be ready for the different drifting conditions. WE have plenty of room to put the extra rods. There are some new pictures in the gallery so take a look. We are sailing everyday making two trips (8am to 12:30 and 1:30 to 6 pm). Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Atlantic Highlands fluke fishing August 29

We have been making both morning and afternoon trips everyday from the Atlantic Highlands marina. Yesterday the northerly wind made for tough drifting conditions. Today the wind was not as strong and we were able to fish the Sandy Hook channel area. The drift was still fast but with some extra weight everyone was able to catch fish. Most of the fluke were shorts but there was plenty of action. The action on the afternoon trip was the same but we ended up with more keepers. We had no limits but some people caught Two or three keepers. Sometimes the drift can be fast so you need to put on heavy weights. It is a good idea to bring a heavy and light rod so you are ready for the different conditions. We are sailing everyday making two trips (8am to 12:30 and 1:30 to 6pm). Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Atlantic Highlands fluke fishing August 27

We have been making both morning and afternoon trips everyday from the Atlantic Highlands marina. On the morning trip today we fished in Sandy hook channel. The fishing was as good as you want with plenty of action with everyone catching fish. There were a lot of shorts caught but only a few keepers. On the afternoon trip the wind picked up out of the southeast and the conditions were no good. We were able to move onto the Flynns Knoll area where it was calmer with better drifting conditions. The short action was not as good as the morning but we were able to end the afternoon with more keepers than the morning. We have not seen the rough seas and strong rip current that the media hype has been talking about and if the ocean does get rough we always have the bay to fish in. There are some new pictures in the gallery from the past few days so take a look. We are sailing everyday making two trips (8am to 12:30 and 1:30 to 6pm). Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Atlantic Highlands fluke fishng August 24

We have been making both morning and afternoon trips everyday from the Atlantic Highlands marina. On Friday 8/22 the morning trip was tough and on the afternoon trip we picked away at shorts with some keepers. While some people had no keepers we had a high hook of four. On Saturday 8/25 both trips were not good. Today was not great but it was an improvement over yesterday. We picked a mix of mostly shorts with a few keepers each trip. Tire John was the exception on the morning trip with his five fish limit. The pick was about the same on the afternoon trip with a high hook of two keepers. We are sailing everyday making two trips (8am to 12:30 and 1:30 to 6pm). The kids are going back to school soon so lets get that fishing trip in before they go back. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
