Fishing Reports

Atlantic Highlands fluke fishing August 27

Made both morning and afternoon trips again today. On the morning trip there was still some easterly wind so we started out in the bay. We picked some shorts every drift. Te wind diminished so we went out to Flynns Knoll and picked more shorts. On the afternoon trip we started out on Flynns Knoll and had a better pick on shorts. The weather improved so we worked out towards the area were we fished last week. We picked shorts on every drift but no keepers. There were a lot of fluke caught this afternoon but the regulations kept us from keeping any to take home. We will be back trying again tomorrow and hopefully we can catch some keepers. We are half day fishing for fluke everyday making two trips (8am to 12:30 and 1:30 to 6pm. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Made both morning and afternoon trips again today. On the morning trip there was still some northeast wind and it was still rough in the ocean. We did not want to beat anyone up so we fished in Sandy Hook Bay. It was nice and calm and we picked some shorts on every drift but no keepers. On the afternoon trip the wind diminished so we tried out where we fished last week. There was still a swell and we did not catch anything. We went to flynns Knoll where there it was calm and we pick shorts on each drift but no keepers. Tomorrow is another day and we will be back trying. If it is not nice in the ocean we will fish the bay again and hopefully the fishing will be better. We will have to see. We are half day fishing for fluke everyday making two trips (8am to 12:30 and 1:30 to 6pm). Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Made both morning and afternoon trips again today but the fishing was not as good. On  the morning trip we had some easterly wind so we fished in Sandy Hook bay where it wax not rough. We had good action there on Saturday but today was not good. We picked some shorts on each drift but only had one keeper (see gallery). On the afternoon trip the short action was better but no keepers. We will be back trying tomorrow and if the ocean is rough we will fish in the bay and hopefully the fishing will be better. We are half day fishing for fluke everyday making two trips (8am to 12:30 and 1:30 to 6pm). Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Made both morning and afternoon  trips again today. On the morning trip we went to the same area we have been fishing. The fishing started out slow with only a pick at shorts. As the morning went on we picked better at the shorts and caught a couple of keepers. On the afternoon trip the conditions looked good so we made a drift in Sandy Hook Bay. We picked at the shorts and had a couple of keepers on the first drift. We spent the rest of the trip in the bay where we had very good short action and caught more keepers. Doug had two nice keepers and Cliff (who caught no keepers in the morning) came back to catch two keepers. You can see their pictures and others from today in the gallery. Its nice to still see fluke in Sandy Hook Bay if the ocean gets rough. We are half day fishing for fluke everyday making two trips (8am to 12:30 and 1:30 to 6pm).

Made both morning and afternoon trips again today. On the morning trip we started out only picking a few shorts each drift. As the morning went on we picked more shorts each drift and ended the morning with a couple of keepers. On the afternoon trip the action was better. It was mostly shorts but everyone caught and we had some keepers. Gary fished the morning with no keepers so he stayed on for the afternoon to catch two nice keeper fluke. We never know what trip will be better. You can see Gary and other pictures from today in the gallery. We are half day fishing for fluke everyday making two trips (8am to 12:30 and 1:30 to 6pm).
